Long wait as days roll on - still no joy.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday spent doing battle with customs. The logistics company has never imported a car or bike before - that has become very apparent. No one seems to know what they are doing. It has been a long way short of a seamless process.

The bike was X-rayed and searched - passed the inspection. Why it was slected for special treatment has got me beat.

Tuesday the paper work became the problem. I wasn't allowed to front up and do this face to face so I was limited to exchanging emails and telephone calls. The customs officer wanted me to fill in a Visa Waiver (I-94W). I explained to the third person ( the middle man ) that I filled one in when I entered the country. I was fingerprinted, photographed and my passport stamped for 90 day entry. This customs officer wanted me to fill in another one anyway apparently - so I did that. Waited and then "But you are already in the country?" came the reply. Yeah isn't that what I said. I have been waiting for three weeks now. "Sorry Sir we will try to get this resloved."

Today another form was sent. I filled this form in already weeks ago but I filled it in again and forwarded it. The form was the 'Vehicle Importation Declaration for Non-residents.' According to the Homeland Security (Customs and Border Security) website that is the only form I need to fill in. Now it has been done twice. I am waiting again.

Picked up a dose of the flu in the meantime. Dosed myself with tablets and staying close to base and not venturing out to far.
