Tombstone

More Arizona desert on my way from Casa Grande to Douglas just north of the Mexican border crossing I intend using.

Most of the day's travel was on the Highway Eight but I turned south into some back country. Tombstone was interesting. Obviously set up for the tourists but worth seeing. Some of the old original buildings are still in place. Walked the area where the battle of the OK Corral took place. HeeHah shoot 'em up cowboy.
They still do copper and silver mining in the area.

Arrived in Douglas and the motel is chock-a-block with border security guys in camouflage gear. There have been several roadblocks as well along the way. Spend the night here then cross the border tomorrow.

Hi Dave,

Mate very pleased to see you on the road. It sounds great and I am really envious.
I remember driving from Phoenix to San Diego along the highway that runs parallel with the Mexican/US border. We were stopped a few times by road blocks and our car searched from front to end, looking for I.A's (illegal aliens) or Mexicans. If I remember correctly the Waffle House has great breakfasts with bottomless cups of coffee, and the Motel 8 is a cheap Motel too.
Mate take care and enjoy the trip.

Regards

Geoff & Carly
