Northern Peru

Excited that another border was being crossed and it proved to be the best crossing so far. Took about twenty minutes and the officials were all friendly and helpful. They cannot get many westerners crossing with vehicles at Marco because I had to help them with the Carnet de Passage documents.
This crossing is high in the mountains and the PanAmerican Highway crossing is closer to the coast.

Once I rolled down out of the mountains there was about forty kilometres of lowland farms before I hit the desert country.

People are doing it tough here and it reminded me of Africa.
