WOW and WOW again.
Walked and gawked all day. Much has been written about this site and all of it is understated.
To experience this beautiful place and then describe it would not convey just how special it is.
We were up very early being given a guided tour. Glad we did because as the day wore on the crowds grew and the site became quite congested.
The afternoon was free time and ours to explore. Could have come back day after day and still found something new to see.
Shirley and I were exhausted after a full day of hiking.
Shirley and I hiked a small part of that Inca Trail to the 'Gateway of the Sun' that over looks Machu Picchu. A temple building and the gateway align so as to receive rays of sunlight in the temple at specific times of the year.

The 'Inca Trail' is really a vast network of walking trails. Today hikers walk just a small part of that trail.

Parts of the trail is just plain dangerous and we turned back.
The township of Aguas Calientes is where the train to Machu Picchu stops. The train disects the town and many of the restaurants and shops are just metres from the track. The train trip is worth the time just of itself. The train passes through deep valleys on its way to Aguas Calientes. Rio Urubumba flows fast and close to the rail line.

Hi Dave,
Mate I felt abit bad with the comment regarding buying a camera. I understand your anger and can only understand what great pix you have now lost. However, no good crying over spilt milk, and your trip is one that you will always remember.
How much longer will your trip last?
Not alot happening this end of the globe. Chuck & Julie Keating will be down shortly for Josh's wedding. We're all catching up for a night on the piss, so will say hello for you. Rentschy got the Sgt's position at Edenhope, as I'm sure you are already aware of, however I've just been informed that someone has appealed it. So, will have to wait and see what happens there.
Goody has finished work. Lorraine is going in for a Hysterectomy (I hope that's how you spell it) in a few days, so he's taking 6 weeks carers leave I think, then long service/sick leave and that will see him out. I think he's got a lot on his mind at present with Kyle still giving them some grief.
Carly and I have just got back from the Saleyards. We took in our first batch of lambs, ten in number, and sold them for $90 each.
Anyway mate, hope you're still well and enjoying your holiday. Keep up the good work and have fun.
Regards
Geoff n Carly
