Home

Stepped off the plane and was met by my brother Michael. Great to hear his big laugh. Drove the five hundred metres to the Qantas freight terminal - why walk?

Bike was ready to go just had to get it cleared at customs.

The customs office was situated between the passenger terminal and the freight terminal so just a short walk. We drove there as well. Michael is not into walking apparently.

No problems with customs as the bike was cleared without a visual inspection. Bit of a scare from a mis-informed AQIS officer though. He thought I had to have an engineers certificate because it was a vehicle import. Phew thank god he was wrong.

Typical of Sydney it started to rain so I decided take up my brother's offer to stay at his home for the night. Left the bike tucked up and dry at the freight terminal for the night. Arrangements were made to collect it the next morning.

Only 1100 kilometres to Hamilton down the Hume and Hamilton highways. A couple of days on the road should do it.

Next morning the weather was not much better but I was keen to get home so I donned some wet weather gear and headed off. The first thing I noticed was how organised and tidy everything was. The traffic flow was so orderly and the vehicles so new or near new. Just used to something other than that.

Stopped for breakfast. Something to challenge the heart and remind of what I have been missing.

Sorry Geoff but I was meant to ring you. Your offer to ride home to Hamilton with me was generous but I couldn't do it to you. I was soaked when I got home. Pleased to see the rain for obvious reasons but why now? The wind gusts also made for an uncomfortable ride.
